ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2024 Division 2 Pathway events continue in Asia and Africa

From September 29 to October 7, Oman will host the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Division 2 Qualifier.
Eight teams will compete for two spots in the 2023 Asia Qualifier.
Between September 30 and October 8, Nigeria will host the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Division 2 Qualifier, with the top three teams advancing to next year’s Africa Qualifier.
The qualification path to the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 resumes next week, with Oman preparing to host the eight-team Asia Division 2 Qualifier at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amerat across two venues.

The eagerly anticipated event, which begins on September 29 and features an action-packed schedule of 16 matches over nine days, will welcome young stars from Bahrain, Bhutan, Hong Kong, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Thailand.

The Division 2 Qualifier is the first step on the path to the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024, and the two teams that advance to the final match on 7 October will join previously qualified Kuwait, Malaysia, Nepal, and the UAE in the Asia Qualifier in 2023.

Oman Cricket Secretary Madhursinh Jesrani said ahead of the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Division 2 Qualifier:

“Oman Cricket is ecstatic to be hosting the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers Asia – Division 2.” We cordially invite all visiting teams to experience Oman and its legendary hospitality. We are excited to see the tournament’s best brand of youth cricket.

“As the hosts, we are looking forward to seeing our U19 National Team at its best throughout the tournament, displaying an exemplary and enthralling brand of cricket.” The team has worked hard to shape itself in accordance with the requirement to excel in all departments.

During this time, the Africa Division 2 Qualifier begins on September 30 in Abuja, where 16 matches will be played to determine which teams advance to the final qualification event in 2023.

The best young players from Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria will compete over nine days, with the top three teams advancing to the Africa Qualifier.

Following the event’s conclusion on October 8, the two finalists and third-placed team will join Namibia, Tanzania, and Uganda in next year’s Africa Qualifier.

Oman will host the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Asia Division 2 Qualifier from September 29 to October 7.

Oman, Bhutan, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia comprise Group A.

Group B consists of Hong Kong, Thailand, Qatar, and Singapore.

ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 Qualification Structure

ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 features 16 teams. The 11 best-placed Full Member nations from 2022 automatically qualified for the event. Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies, and Zimbabwe.

One team from each region will qualify for the remaining five berths.

Americas and EAP will each host one qualifying tournament in 2023, with the winners qualifying for the U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024.

Africa, Asia, and Europe will have two-step qualifications. In 2022, these regions will conduct Division 2 Qualifiers to select teams for the Regional Qualifier.
